Russ Pillar, Founder, The 5850 Group
Russell I. Pillar is a founder of The 5850 Group and has served at The 5850 Group and its predecessor companies since 1991. Mr. Pillar currently serves as Director of the Board of Education Dynamics, a Halyard Portfolio company. Mr. Pillar was the chief digital media strategy and execution executive for Viacom and CBS, serving in a variety of positions including Senior Advisor, Viacom; President, Viacom Digital Media Group; and President and Chief Executive Officer, CBS Internet Group from January 2000 to February 2006. Previously, Mr. Pillar served as President, Chief Executive Officer and a Director of Virgin Entertainment Group. In addition, Mr. Pillar has served over more than four years in a variety of positions at Prodigy, including Vice Chairman of the board of directors and President and Chief Executive Officer of Prodigy Internet. Over the past two decades, Mr. Pillar has served as a Board member of more than a dozen public and private companies and institutions, including Playboy Enterprises, Inc. and Heal the Bay, a non-profit organization.
